Hasse Persson

In 1977, at the height of the disco craze, a club opened at 254 West 54th Street in New York City. Studio 54 was the world's most renowned and legendary disco. Swedish photo journalist Hasse Persson and his camera were frequent club guests from 1977–80 and the photos he took there have become legendary.  I love the utter debauchery and hedonistic fun captured by Persson's eye and lens, and what fun he must have had doing this!

Age

Age is a challenge, and I'm acutely aware of the pace of time and it's effect on my parents' lives.  But age can also be beautiful: textures, wisdom, love.

This is Kirsty, my beautiful niece and kind and loving cousin to my monkies.  Photos from July 2012 - hot and lazy Warsaw summer.

Can't get enough

Of this little girl.  My Rosie.

Josh Wool

One of my great inspirations of the moment is the work of Josh Wool.  His portraits bring a gritty emotion to the table.  Through the 'aged' feel of his work you almost sense a depth and weight to each subject's life.  More about Josh on his web site

Winter

Nature will be springing to life soon but you have to be in awe of how beautiful winter can be.  White, crisp, fresh.  The monotone palette, so simple yet so powerful.  Family winter getaway, Stare Juchy, January 2015.

And we're back!

Once upon a time, approximately two years' ago, my life was invaded by the corporate world.  I worked my butt off day and night try to win over and please difficult clients plus manage an office and people.  You would have thought this a creativity killer, but in fact there were moments of great creativity working with some amazing people, and I'm extremely grateful to have had the opportunity.  However the bad times outweighed the good times and I missed my special people so much that one day I decided enough was enough, and quit.  After several more months in further internment I am now finally free, well almost, but free enough to be able to return to those and what I love.  So here I am, a new start and lots of ideas.  I'm going to start 2015, and my new life, with new found confidence which I'm determined will allow me to take more and more, and better and better photos.

I'm starting my return with a group of pics taken on my iPhone on 2 January on the beach in Sopot, Poland.  I was with my two children.  We were running free, a soft breeze on our faces.  Laughing, breathing in fresh life, simple happiness but so so special.  Here's to a breath of fresh air in 2015!
